Manchestor (9th July) : India-New Zealand semi-final in Old Trafford was interrupted but the Kiwi skipper made an appearance. Kane Williamson became the highest run-getter in a World Cup quarter-finals by hauling a half-century against India at Manchester on Tuesday.
New Zealand decided to bat first on winning the toss in Old Trafford. The Indian pacer did not start well against the Quebec. Martin Guptill returned to the dressing room for just one run by Jasprit Bumrah. But after batting at number three, Kiwi captain played an important innings of 67 runs. Gattil's record of 95 runs in 95 balls topped the innings.
Kiwi opener Gautil scored 547 runs in the 2015 World Cup. This was the highest run of quillers in a World Cup. Williamson, however, went on to top Gastil at Manchester. Williamson scored 548 in the current World Cup. The eight innings have two centuries and two half-centuries in the Kiwi captain. Average of 91.33
Among the first five-wicket-takers in one World Cup, Williamson and Gautilam are included in the list, including Scott Styris, Martin Crowe and Stephen Fleming.
